Title: Product Designer - Apparel and Textiles


Overview: As a member of our design team, the Well Told Product Designer  - Apparel and Textiles collaborates cross-functionally to tell our story and help bring new products to market. The Product Designer is tasked with ensuring that Well Told has intentionally designed product across apparel and textile categories.  You will work with developing our strategic expansion plan of new products and lead the prototyping, design, and production of products.  Efforts will include the physical product itself as well as packaging requirements. Additionally, you will coordinate design efforts with graphic design for our products that require graphic content . This position reports into the Design Lead.

This will be a part-time freelance position with potential for full-time.


What you’ll do:

  • Design products across apparel and textiles, including (but not limited to):
    • Clothing
    • Headware
    • Tabletop Textiles
    • Home accessories (blankets, pillows, bedding, etc)
  • Develop visual prototypes for products
  • Develop design documentation (design specs, drawings, etc) as needed for manufacturing of products
  • Define quality plans to maintain highest quality products
  • Lead explorations in use of colors, materials and finish to ensure industry leading products for future trends
  • Participate in strategic product brainstorming, marketing initiatives, and execution with the design and marketing teams
  • Stay organized and self-manage time and to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines

Who you are:

  • 5+ years of design experience in a creative team environment: retail consumer goods and home textiles
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion, Design or related field
  • Excellent digital and print design skills
  • Excellent hand drawing and rendering skills
  • Familiar with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or other visual prototyping and design software
  • Able to maintain a high quality of work in a fast-paced environment
  • Work well with direction and feedback
  • Self-motivated, expressive, positive, and accountable
  • Resourceful: Able to problem solve and find multiple design solutions, especially under narrow parameters or strict budget restraints
  • Meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail (self-proofing/editing)
  • A curious and innovative thinker
  • Adaptive to change and tight deadlines
  • Able to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment: you seek efficiencies and improvements and are excellent at prioritizing
  • Able to collaborate with project partners throughout departments
  • Strong communication skills and great working with other people
