Regular “date nights” are important for keeping relationships strong, and many couples schedule one night a week to reconnect for that reason. Social distancing has many of us indoors, which means traditional date nights are simply not an option for now. However, with the five tips below, you and your significant other can make the most of the situation and enjoy a wonderful, romantic date in the comfort of your own home.

#1 – Order a Good Bottle of Wine

If you’re following social distancing guidelines, a quick trip to the local grocery or liquor store for a bottle of wine may not be in the cards. However, you can consider adding a good bottle of your favorite wine to your shopping list, or you could even consider ordering from one of many wine home delivery services online. Some allow you to pick and choose bottles, but others surprise you each month with anywhere from two to four carefully-selected vintages based on your tastes and preferences.

You can even order some insulated wine tumblers to keep your favorite at the perfect temperature throughout the night and a beautiful glass carafe for aeration and decanting. This one features the streets of Paris, which is arguably the most romantic city on Earth.

#2 – Consider a Meal Kit Delivery Service

If ordering takeout or delivery is getting boring and you’re interested in something that might be a little more fun, consider trying out one of the several meal kit delivery services available. They’re all slightly different, but they have some similarities, too. They will send all the ingredients you need to make the number of meals you choose, and will give you step-by-step instructions, too.

#3 – Watch an Old Movie

Movies like Casablanca, It Happened One Night, and even The Wizard of Oz have fallen off the radar in recent years, but they’re well worth the time to watch. Thanks to the internet, you can find a classic movie to suit any mood. There are sad movies, funny movies, even horror movies—and many are even in classic black-and-white. Favorites include The Godfather, Gone With The Wind, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and West Side Story, among others. You’ll probably even find them streaming on numerous platforms, too.

#4 – Play a Game

Board games have come a long way since the days of Candyland and Monopoly. Today, you can find games that will have you laughing until your sides hurt, and you can even find a few options aimed specifically for couples. One such game is Dominion, where you build an entire kingdom. Another awesome option is Pandemic, and in this one, you have to work together and cooperate to save the planet.

#5 – Talk

For many of today’s busy couples, finding the time to have a meaningful conversation is difficult. If you can take anything good from the current situation and the social distancing guidelines forcing you to stay home, use this time to really reconnect with your partner and have a heart-to-heart. Talk about your future together, discuss the current state of your career, or even talk about your hopes and dreams – even if they may never come true. These are the things that truly bring people together and help them feel closer than ever.

Being stuck at home is no fun, especially when you’ve been looking forward to a special date or getaway with your loved one. With a little creativity and some ingenuity, though, you can turn any time – whether it’s a Tuesday late afternoon or a Saturday late at night – into the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time together.
